Karen Lapekas is a former IRS attorney (SBSE, Miami) and the principal of Lapekas Law, P.A., in Miami. She focuses her practice on IRS and Florida DOR tax controversy and tax litigation. She is board certified by the Florida Bar in tax law and earned her LLM (tax) from UF.
Joe Schimmel is a shareholder at Cohen, Chase, Hoffman & Schimmel, P.A., in Miami. He is board certified by the Florida Bar in tax law and is a member of the American College of Tax Counsel. He is a former Chair of the Florida Bar Tax Section and earned his LLM (tax) from NYU. He focuses his practice on federal tax planning and tax controversy.
They will be speaking on the changes implemented under the recently passed Taxpayer First Act, which was passed in July 2019.
